After a short break, the Surrey Network returns with a special invitation to visit the

Bricks and Bread Sustainable Living Centre

Friday, 11th June 2010

Aldershot

Trudy Thompson FRSA will give a presentation about why Bricks and Bread, a social enterprise, was created and how it became a hub for sustainable business enterprises in the local area.

Fellows will be given a group tour of the facilities and an overview of what happens at the Centre

Trudy is also willing to help coordinate further meetings in the local area, building on the principles agreed at the March 2010 Surrey Network at the Lightbox, Woking. There is a great deal of drive to ensure Fellows are able to collaborate and the Centre currently has a number of projects in which Fellows are encouraged to share their knowledge, skills and contacts:

  • Creating a peer to peer learning network for social enterprises and entrepreneurs creating low carbon businesses
  • Develop an apprenticeship/work experience scheme for young people in the South East
  • Fund subsidised green skills training courses for all ages, backgrounds and abilities
  • Supporting the growth of construction waste reuse centres in the South East region

There will be refreshments available throughout the evening and lots of opportunities to network with other Fellows.
